(b. 1983)
Nick Turner is an American artist born in Boston in 1983. He was raised in the countryside of Maine where he was home-schooled until the age of fourteen, when he moved to the South of France. There, he attended a French high school before moving to Toulouse, where he passed his international baccalaureate. Immediately after receiving his diploma, Turner moved to Paris. He relocated to New York City to attend the Parsons School of Design, where he received a bachelor's degree in Illustration.
Turner's interest lays deeply rooted in nature and the human condition in relation to it. Though he works with various mediums including painting, photography and collage, the subject matter remains the same. The deeply personal relationship with nature and his personal interest in horses and surfing are juxtaposed against family history motifs and vast empty landscapes from around the globe. There is a play between his individual experiences in life as an artist and the larger dialogue about society and mans place in the natural world.
